Anti Aging Cream - Prevent Wrinkles

As Americans are living longer lives and working at creating a much higher quality of those long lives, we are seeing a growing emphasis on anti aging skin care products and wrinkle creams. The truth of the matter is that until we find that fabled fountain of youth, we will continue to attempt to find products that will assist us in maintaining our youthful glow for as long as possible.

Essentially there are two kinds of aging for the skin. The first is known as intrinsic aging and has to do with the body’s internal aging process over time. The second is known as extrinsic aging and is the result of environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, actual care taken of your skin, and even the use of cosmetics can affect the extrinsic aging process of human skin.

As you age, your skin will lose collagen and elastin, which are the fibers that keep your skin firm and elastic. The result of this loss is sagging skin and wrinkles. Your skin will also get thinner and dryer and your cell production will slow significantly. The slowing of cell regeneration in the skin is what leads to the dull look that older skin has. This loss of a youthful glow is becoming as widely associated with age as wrinkles.

There are several factors that can hasten the skin’s aging process, some of them include: exposure to the sun, tanning bed use, use of both legal and illegal drugs, exposure to cigarette smoke (this can be first hand or second hand smoke), poor nutrition, lack of proper hydration (particularly not drinking enough water), and exposure to many of the chemicals commonly found in personal care products. While this is not an all-inclusive list, minimizing your exposure to many of the things on this list will greatly slow the skin’s aging process.

With so many things that can accelerate the skin’s aging process, it is also good to know that there are some steps we can take in order to slow down this process as well?

When you follow these skin care steps as well as use wrinkle creams that work, then your results will be much better than just using one method alone.

Tip 1

Minimize your exposure to the sun. My favorite way of doing this is with a wide brimmed hat such as an akubra hat with at least a 3 inch brim. This means that you won’t have to rely so much on sunscreens which can be irritating and greasy for some skin. Ideally, stay away fom the sun between 10am to 2pm.

Tip 2

Reduce the amount of stress in your life. Excessive stress causes a lowering of DHEA and a raising of cortisol which both are not good for your skin. Reduced stress results in less free radicals as well, which means less premature aging to your skin. The best ways to distress are meditation or yoga classes, or simply a 30 minute walk.

Tip 3

Reduce your consumption of sugars and simple carbohydrates. It’s been shown that excessive sugar increases the glycation process, and as a result, your collagen in your skin becomes “sugar coated” and your collagen becomes more brittle and your skin becomes less youthful. So instead of sugar, biscuits and cakes, have low GI and complex carbs such as vegetables and fruits.

Tip 4

Drink plenty of water. Aging skin looses moisture, drinking plenty of water nourishes your skin. Hydrated skin will look younger and healthier than dehydrated skin. Be sure to drink 10 to 12 glasses of water daily to ensure proper hydration. Water also helps flush your toxins out of your body to ensure cleaner and clearer cells!

Tip 5

Stop smoking. Not only should you stop smoking if you want your skin to maintain its healthy youthful glow, you also should stop allowing others to smoke around you. The benefits of not smoking or inhaling second hand smoke go well beyond keeping your skin looking young and healthy so keep this in mind if you do smoke or those around you smokes.

Tip 6

Have enough omega 3 fatty acids. It’s been shown that women who have omega 3 oils have less wrinkles. You can get omega 3s from oily fish such as salmon, tuna or sardines. If you prefer you can have flax seed oil or fish oil capsules instead.

So there you go.

We have yet to find the magical fountain of youth that many have spent their entire lives seeking. If you follow the 6 tips above though, you will find that you have found the next best thing. Be sure to establish an anti aging skin care routine as early as possible in order to achieve maximum results and use an anti aging wrinkle cream that is made of quality ingredients and that’s been shown to give results.
